About Us


St. Kevin's College,
established in 1952, offers a wide range of career focused Further Education Courses. We cater for Leaving Certificate Students, Mature Students and VTOS students.

Certification from FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council), The National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Business and Technical Education Council (BTEC) for Diplomas in Media Production and Outdoor Recreation, National Governing Bodies of various Outdoor Sports, REC Rescue and Emergency Care (Ireland) Certificate.

College facilities include well equipped laboratories, modern computer facilities, T.V. & Video, Editing suites including Avid, minibus, full range of equipment for canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering etc. Watersports base on Blessington Lake with Darragh 14 and G.P. 14 dinghies, Toppers and Achats. Excellent modern workshops, Art studios etc.

Common room
etc for all students.

Career Guidance and Counselling service is provided.

Psychological Service is also available to students.

Course Information

Adventure Leadership Skills - Certificate FETAC Credit for year one of BTEC National Diploma.
· Theory with all of adventure sports, First Aid, Environment Studies, Mountain Skills, Leadership Skills and Safety, Dinghy Sailing, Snorkelling, Rock climbing.
· Skills covered Kayaking Level 3 proficiency and Kayaking Level 1 Instructor.

Two Year-Outdoor Recreation BTEC National Diploma Course
· Entry requirements - Have completed the one year FETAC Certificate
· Students will cover Management of People, Health & Fitness, Coaching and Activity Management, Marketing.
· Mountain Leader Training, Rock Climbing, Pool Lifeguard, Kayaking Level 4 and Kayak Instructor Level 1, Leader Instructor, Snorkeling, & Expedition Skills.

Media Production
· 1 year Fetac National Certificate in Media Production
Modules - Video Production - Documentary, DTP, Journalism, Photography, Scriptwriting, Media Analysis and Work Placement.

· 2 year BTEC National Diploma Media Production (Moving Image Information Design)
Modules - TV/Video Production, Photography, Media Analysis, Film Studies, Desk Top Publishing, Communications, Print Journalism, Script/Creative Writing, Art & Design, Documentary, Photography & Digital Imaging.

· 2 year BTEC Higher National Diploma Media Production (Moving Image Information Design)
Modules - Media Analysis, Film Studies, Research Techniques, Scriptwriting, Camera and Lighting, Video Direction, Digital Editing, Print Journalism, Page Layout and Design, Media Law, Creative Writing, Interview and Presentation Techniques, Drama Production, Documentary Making and Digital Imaging.

· Photography & Digital Imaging - BTEC National Certificate in Media (Print Production - 1 Year), FETAC National Certificate (1 Year), BTEC Higher National Diploma in Media (Photography & Digital Imaging - 2 Years) & FETAC National Certificate (1 Year)
Photography at Professional Level, Darkroom Practice, Studio, Sports, Fashion, Advertising, Documentary, Portraiture & Fine Art Photography, Photojournalism, Digital Image Processing, Scanning, Image Manipulation & Conversion, Editing Techniques, Adobe Photoshop for Print & Web, Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing and Curating Exhibitions.
