About Us

LA Make-Up Academy offers a wide range of courses that cater for the absolute beginner to those wishing to pursue a career as a professional Make-Up Artist. All training takes place at a professional studio based in Dublin city centre. Courses are taught by working Make-Up and special effect artists that are top of their field both in Ireland and internationally. Students will experience a range of different guest speakers on each course, thus enabling them to experience a wide range of talent in this highly competitive industry.

LA Make-up Academy uses only top brand makeup for example Mac, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Nars and for special effect Make-Up, Charles Fox and Screenface. All courses provide students with the necessary skills required of a professional Make-Up Artist. Training is offered in fashion, photographic and camouflage makeup, special effects, prosthetics, along with theatre and film.

LA Make-up Academy provides work experience that ranges from photographic shoots with Image, Off the rails, TV & Film.

 


Courses

Module 1

This course provides excellent training in professional make-up skills for bridal, special occasion level and wishing to pursue a career in make-up. Students will be taught by top internationally trained make-up artists. This course is an excellent introduction to students who are contemplating a career change, but are unsure if a career in make-up is for them.

  • Part Time: 4 Weeks
  • Times: Monday + Tuesday 6:30-9:00pm 
  • Price: €495

 

Module 2

This course is designed for those wishing to pursue a career as a make-up artist for fashion photographic. The curriculum begins with the very basics and fundamentals of make-up through to high fashion and catwalk looks. You will experiance a differant artist teaching every other day and so learn and so learn a wide range of methods and skills. This course also includes a photoshoot to create two high fashion images for your all important portfolio. 

  • Full-time: 2 weeks; Part-time: 8 weeks
  • Times: Moday - Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (Full-time); Monday + Tuesday 6:30 - 9:00 pm (Part-time)
  • Price: €895

 

Module 3

This course is the ultimate for those seeking a career as a professional make-up artist. You will start at fondation level through to fashion/photographic. Students will then progress to make-up for tv and film, including straight, ageing, creating characters using special effects/prosthetics, fitting facial hair and wigs. Students will also gain the knowledge required to research period make-up for TV, Film and theatre while also learning the effects of lighting on make-up. Throughout the course, students will work with a leading photographer, hair and fashion stylist on shoots that will create that essential portfolio. This course is specifically designed for students who are serious about a career in make-up. On completion of the course, employment can be sought in photographic shoots, catwalks and film.

  • Full-time: 2 months; Part-time: 3 months
  • Times: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (Full-time); Wednesday + Thursday 6:30 - 9:00 pm (Part-time)
