Crawford College of Art & DesignThe Crawford College of Art & Design is a constituent college of Cork Institute of Technology. Situated in Sharman Crawford Street in Cork, the College has provided education in the arts for over 200 years. The college has a proud tradition in the fields of fine art, ceramic design, art teacher training, art therapy and adult education in the creative arts. The CIT Crawford College offers full-time courses to Bachelors Degree, Masters and Higher Diploma levels, all validated by CIT and the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC). Department of Fine Art
The Department of Fine Art offers undergraduate Level 8 honours degree programmes in Fine Art and Ceramic Design. Access to both these courses of study is via a common First Year; the CAO code is CR201. Entry requirements consist of interview and portfolio. In the Department of Fine Art there is also a research programme leading to the award of MA in Fine Art by Research. This programme may be studio or theory based, and is designed to develop advanced skills in independent and sustained research. Department of Art Therapy
The CIT Crawford College of Art & Design is the first in Ireland to provide a professional postgraduate programme in Art Therapy. Successful graduates receive the Master of Arts in Art Therapy, which is a recognised qualification for Art Therapy practice. Contact Ed Kuczaj (ed.kuczaj@cit.ie) for further information.

 

 
 
  Department of Art & Design Education
The Higher Diploma in Arts for Art & Design Teachers is a one-year postgraduate professional training programme that trains teachers in the disciplines of art, craft and design. Successful students qualify for registration as Art teachers primarily at the second level of education. The course provides the student teacher with direct teaching experience through professional placement in a second level school throughout the year.

Graduates who have already achieved a Level 8 qualification in Art & Design Education are also eligible to study for an MA by Research in Art & Design Education.
