About us
Thinking college … imagine CAFRE

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) is the specialist college in Northern Ireland for courses aimed at helping you to help you prepare for a career in the land-based and food sectors.

At our three campuses at Enniskillen, Greenmount (Antrim) and Loughry (Cookstown), you can study Equine Studies, Horticulture, Rural and Countryside Management, Land-based Technology, Food Technology, Food Supply Management, Agriculture, Floristry and Veterinary Nursing. All Degree and Foundation Degree programmes are recognised by the Department of Education and Science, Dublin. This means that you can apply to your local Council for a VEC scholarship. All EU students enrolled on a Degree or Foundation Degree programme are also eligible to apply for financial assistance for tuition fees from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD). Contact us for more information on funding.

The CAFRE Experience

As a CAFRE student you will enjoy the benefits of first class facilities, ‘hands-on’ practical and management experience and a fun-packed social life. Past students quote the friendly atmosphere, the opportunity for work placement and the industry links that the College has established with businesses throughout the agri-food industry as the main reasons for studying at CAFRE. The College will prepare you both academically and practically for a wide range of challenging careers in the land-based sector and there is a strong demand for our graduates. Over 97% of CAFRE students obtain employment or progress onto further education within 6 months of completing their courses.

Studying at CAFRE is exciting and challenging but most importantly enjoyable. The supportive atmosphere at each campus will help you to successfully balance your studies with the social aspects of student life. There is a comprehensive social calendar, organised across the three campuses by the Students Council, which helps to makes the college experience a memorable one. Accommodation is available in pleasant landscaped surroundings at competitive prices with many rooms having en-suite facilities.

Facts and Figures
