ITT
Dublin - Institute to a new city
Tallaght – the Region
Tallaght in South Dublin County is Ireland’s largest urban
centre after Dublin and Cork with a population of more than 100,000.
Because of its importance the Tallaght area is served by LUAS, Dublin’s
very successful new light rail service. Over the years a significant
number of companies have located in Tallaght many of them international
leaders. Tallaght is also home to Tallaght Hospital, a major national
centre of medical care and research. The Civic Offices, Civic Theatre,
Library and the Village Development are new, architecturally delightful
buildings that give a cosmopolitan atmosphere to this new city.
Tallaght has a young population and enjoys a high level of employment.
South Dublin County Council has assets of over 3 billion euro and
manages its services with a budget of more that 450 million euro.
The National Basketball Arena is located in Tallaght, and the new
state of the art Shamrock Rovers soccer stadium will be an exciting
local amenity. Many young professionals and others are now living
in apartments in Tallaght and enjoy a huge range of excellent local
services – supermarkets, cinemas, restaurants, theatres, keep
fit clubs and parks. For those who like hiking Blessington lakes
and the Wicklow mountains are just around the corner from Tallaght.
The M50 motorway is linked to Tallaght and allows companies quick
access to Dublin Airport and world markets. Students at ITT Dublin
are part of an exciting and vibrant new city.
