Gaining an insight into different fields of study on open days and work placements may influence your decision as you may now have a stronger sense of what subjects and career areas you are interested in. This will make your choice of leaving cert subjects much easier! The Leaving Certificate (Established) is a 2-year programme that provides you with a broad, balanced education. You are required to study at least 5 subjects, one of which must be Irish and are able to take the subjects at either Higher or Ordinary level. Most leaving cert students study 6 or 7 subjects and choose from 34 subjects in addition to Irish.
