Although not everybody is eligible for a Higher Education Grant it is advisable that all students apply as they may be entitled to receive some payment. Whether a student is entitled to a full or partial grant depends by and large on your combined annual income as parents. The distance a student lives from the institution is also considered a factor in determining the amount awarded to them.

Forms and conditions are available from your local authority. The closing date is August 31st, so students generally submit their form before they are sure of their college place. The form is considerably detailed and asks a lot of questions – including a section for parents to complete asking for details about your income and earnings.
