Here are some key dates for you to put in your 2008 diary:

1st Feb (5.15pm) – Closing date for normal applications to CAO for first year undergraduate courses commencing in September 2008.
15th Feb – Date by which you should have received a Statement of Course Choices from the CAO if you submitted your paper application by 1st February deadline.
March/April – Interviews and portfolio presentations take place during this time for ‘Restricted Application Courses’.
1st May (5.15pm) – Closing date for late CAO applications. No further applications will be accepted after this date.
May – All candidates will receive a Statement of Application from the CAO showing details of their application to date.
1st July (5.15pm) – Final date for Change Of Mind course selection options on the CAO application.
13th August – SEC publish the Leaving Cert results, available online at www.examinations.ie from noon.
18th August – CAO release round 1 offers to candidates, available online at 6am. Also listed on the CAO website is a list of the minimum points required for each course.
19th August – Round 1 offers arrive in the post. This date is also the deadline for students applying to see their exam scripts. All forms must be completed and returned to your school by this date.
26th August – CAO release round 2 offers online at 6am. Also listed on the CAO website is a list of the minimum points required for entry onto each course at the 2nd round stage (minimum points can drop dramatically between round 1 and round 2).
29th – 30th August – Students can view their examination scripts in school.
3rd September – Closing date for receipt of acceptance of CAO round 2 offers. Closing date for receipt of Leaving Cert appeal applications.
Mid-October – Release of the results of Leaving Cert appeals issued by the SEC.
