Important Changes

There are more than 1200 course codes on CAO’s lists this year. Almost all are included in the CAO handbook (which can be found on their website at www.cao.ie), but there are currently 21 new courses which have been added and which are not listed in the CAO handbook. These additional courses can be found on the CAO website listed under ‘Important Changes to the CAO Handbook’. For full details of these changes click here.

Under the same heading you will also find a further 16 courses listed which have been cancelled since they were listed in this year’s CAO handbook; and there are a further 7 courses listed which are noted to have ‘miscellaneous changes’ since they were listed in the CAO handbook for this year. These ‘miscellaneous changes’ include changes in some course titles and also a prerequisite of submitting a portfolio of work to be considered entry onto certain courses.

It is important to keep a check on any courses that are being added, cancelled or changed by referring to this part of the CAO website regularly. After all, new courses can continue to be added up until 1st July 2008 and therefore only those applicants who check the website for such changes will be aware of these new courses. Thus, those candidates who are aware of these new courses will benefit from a lower level of competition for entry onto them.
